Voluntary Immigration

Letter to Lee Terry;

Recently I read an article in the National Review, "The View from Main Street", unfortunately I was unable to find a link to it. It discussed voluntary immigration. I found it enlightening and inspiring. Basically it said that we have a housing surplus, and a surplus in a number of other categories. It argued that we need to increase the number of immigrants in order to create a demand. It pictured something more like recruitment. Take Japan for example, they refuse to allow an influx of foreign workers to replace their aging workforce that they cannot replace by births. As a result their economy is shrinking. America still has a great capacity for growth. Imagine the massive influx of immigrants and the effect it had on America in mid to late 19th century. I live in an area where there is a large community of Hispanic people. They've built a rich community here in South Omaha. Its hard to believe that such xenophobia exists among conservatives such as myself. Immigration is America, free enterprise, freedom in general. I see three needed solutions. 1. Close the gaps as best we can in the border, 2. Find a way to allow the worthy people who are here now a way to stay, 3. Increase voluntary immigration on all fronts for qualified law abiding peoples of the world. Thank you for your time
